On May 26, 2022, Carol Cheney, president of CCA, presented Cheney Family Spirit of Innovation Awards to two Howell Cheney Technical High School seniors at Prize Day. Tahira Jilu and Joel Duah were selected by the faculty for their exceptional ingenuity, persistence in problem solving and committed involvement in the school community. They received $1000 checks donated by the Cheney Family Fund.
Howell Cheney (1870–1957) served as Cheney Brothers secretary and director from 1925-1935. He founded Cheney Tech in 1915. The school offers ten vocations for high school students to choose from while they also complete a regular high school academic program. The award named in his honor was established in 2017.
