John Cheney (1801-1885) was one of the nine children of Charles and Electa Cheney. He was a noted engraver and helped to finance the fledgling Cheney Brothers Silk Company, which was founded in 1848 by his brothers.[4]Examples of Cheney’s work are in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.[5] In 1833, he was elected into the National Academy of Design as an Honorary Academician. You can read his memoir by Ednah Dow Cheney on Google Books.
