The Cheney Cemetery Association was established in April 1914 for descendants of George and Electa Woodbridge Cheney to manage the Cheney Cemetery in Manchester, Connecticut, working with the Town of Manchester, and conduct other business relating to the family. The Association is a 501(c)(13) nonprofit organization. Members of the Association shall be individual persons having a right of burial in a plot registered on the books of the Association.
The Association also oversees a donor-advised fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. Since its inception in 1985, the Cheney Family Fund has made grants totaling more than $500,000 to area educational and cultural institutions as well as for the upkeep of the Cheney Homestead, owned and operated by the Manchester Historical Society.

Each member shall have:
1. One vote, in person or by proxy, at meetings of the Association
2. The right to hold office and serve on committees
3. The right to designate a Successor
4. The right of interment in each plot entered in his or her name on the books of the Association.
The Association is governed by a board of directors and committees including: Audit, Donations, Grounds, Investment, Membership and Communications, Nominating. The Association communicates via email, paper mail and telephone.
In addition to managing the Cheney Cemetery and assisting families with interments, the Association works on genealogy and family history, assists members in placing Cheney family artifacts and memorabilia in museum collections, hosts zoom meetings and powerpoint shows and family reunions.
